MUCMARA LODGE ONLY 5 MILES FROM CALGARY BEACH – A HOME FROM HOME IN THE HEART OF NATURE
Mucmara Lodge, a luxury 4 bedroom self-catering lodge with WIFI sleeps up to 8 people, is located in a truly inspirational location on the north of the Isle of Mull, close to the village of Dervaig (an easy 1 mile walk). The area is peaceful and has the benefit of open outlooks to the beautiful surrounding countryside to the rear and open garden area to the front.
Our visitors can enjoy the lovely wood burning stove in the lounge, walks form the doorstep and easy access to our foreshore where otters can be seen on a regular basis, not to mention the eagles which fly overhead – from time to time, just don’t forget to look up! We are try happy to take time with you during your stay to advise on walks.
The lodge sits in a very private situation with its own small pond and surrounding garden area. Outdoor dining furniture is situated on the south facing balcony and there is garden furniture around the pond and elsewhere.
A visit from Helen Fraser of Afternoon Tea Tours comments: “I hope I will get the chance to bring some visitors to see you at Mucmara some time or at least recommend it to them as I think it is perfect in every way.”

WE ARE PLEASED TO ADVISE THAT THE LODGE IS ENTIRELY NON SMOKING with easy WHEELCHAIR ACCESS to one ensuite bedroom and all public areas.
The nearby village of Dervaig supports an extensive shop, with grocery, local produce, post office and daily papers. It has added a great village hub too – a place for all to catch up and have a cuppa’. The local church meets on Sunday afternoon and there is a small hotel and pub that provides excellent meals. Am Berlinn, a quality restaurant is a short drive away towards Calgary Bay where another excellent daytime licensed restaurant, The Carthouse Gallery and Tea Room, can be found. The Byre, a heritage centre, supports a gift shop with café (only open from April until September and but closed Monday or Tuesday) and lies west of the village. It gives an interesting insight into the history of the island.
Calgary beach and the beach at Langamull lie only a few miles away. Indeed there is so much to do, see and enjoy in the way of wildlife and nature, castles and gardens, arts and crafts, walking and climbing, sailing and cycling, not forgetting the locally produced food and cuisine that no matter the weather the spirit is lifted as one spends time on this island or enjoying its surrounding waters.
OUR GREEN CREDENTIALS: We have incorporated energy saving and renewable energy sources by way of an air source heat pump for underfloor and air heating, solar thermal panel for hot water and significant upgrade to insulation and window specification. A heat recovery ventilation system compliments the central heating providing a very comfortable environment. The site also generates solar energy discretely situated.
FRIDAY CHANGE OVERS: WE ARE HAPPY TO ADVISE THAT WE ADOPT A FRIDAY CHANGE OVER POLICY TO ALLOW GUESTS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SAVER TICKETS AVAILABLE ON FERRY CROSSINGS FROM OBAN TO CRAIGNURE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. IF THIS IS TOO MUCH OF A RESTRICTION PLEASE ENQUIRE FURTHER.
